Interim Report on the State of Community-Based Paralegal Advice Offices in South Africa

This project was essentially conducted in two stages. The first stage (Stage One) comprised research conducted independently by Jobst Bodenstein of the Community Law Centre, North West University (Mafikeng campus) in the Eastern and Western Cape and in the North West. This was done with support of the North West University and funding from International Committee of Jurists (Sweden) (ICJ). In extending the research to the remaining six provinces (Stage Two), the Steering Committee engaged Mr. Jobst Bodenstein as lead researcher. Research partners were appointed to render support in the six remaining provinces. ICJ (Sweden) likewise funds this part of the project.

This interim report is primarily intended to provide the Steering Committee with a general overview of the results and findings of the quantitative and qualitative research undertaken. It should also assist in facilitating discussions on the contents of the final report.
