Thomas McGee has worked on statelessness in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, with particular focus on the situation of stateless Kurds of Syria. He is currently working on a PhD at the Peter McMullin Centre on Statelessness at the University of Melbourne Law School and is co-coordinator of the MENA Statelessness Network (Hawiati). Thomas speaks Arabic and Kurdish (Kurmanci dialect), and has served as a Country Expert for asylum cases from Syria and Iraq, with a particular focus on statelessness and citizenship issues. Thomas graduated from Cambridge University and holds MA in Kurdish Studies from Exeter University, and has published on a range of topics including displacement, statelessness and Housing, Land and Property rights.
