Samrakshak Samuha Nepal (SASANE)
Joined June 2016
Interests: Education, Gender-based violence, Livelihoods
Born and raised in Nepal I have studied Social Work and am passionately working in the field of women's legal and economic empowerment from the past two years. Women related issues are synonymous to Nepal which dragged my interest to work in this sector. I have been presently working in Samrakshak Samuha Nepal, SASANE. I have been working with the female human trafficking survivors in the organization focusing in their empowerment and education. Women issues and Nepal are synonymous to one another. Keeping this in mind working in women’s setting has been my interest since school days.
I do have an experience of working in the research field in unsafe abortion, premature sex and child marriage. Recently I have been promoted as a Secretariat Office Manager, of Girls Not Brides Nepal (They are autonomous partnerships that are associated with Girls Not Brides: The Global Partnerships to End Child Marriage. They are composed of a critical mass of Girls Not Brides members, who decide to work together to address child marriage in their country. National Partnerships share the values and mission of Girls Not Brides).
Nepal needs to be changed and we are the one responsible to change it. Following the same interest I am taking all the opportunities through which I could learn and then implement the same learning here in my country. My bachelor’s level research was based on the attraction of rural women in the entertainment business. I was able to win a UNWTO AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE AND INNOVATION IN TOURISM for the organization I have been working in.
Presently I have been doing my Master’s in Social Work in Kathmandu, Nepal and have an aim for working in the sector of women. I want to make the women of Nepal confident and able to identify their needs and stand for their betterment independent and able.
