Kanyinke Paul Sena has a Doctorate in law in Indigenous Peoples Law and Policy from the University of Arizona and has undertaken a semester course work on renewable energy at Doctorate level. He has written papers on best practices in energy projects and on the impacts of large scale energy projects of indigenous people’s rights. See for example Report on Renewable Energy Projects and the Rights of Marginalized/Indigenous communities in Kenya and Balancing vultures conservation and rights of Maasai. Kanyinke has been advocating for community-led energy projects in Africa learning from his experiences from community energy projects in North America. As the Director of IPACC, a network of indigenous people’s organizations in Africa, Kanyinke will be well positioned to advance the Rights and Partnership agenda in Africa.
