Ken Henshaw is Executive Director of We the People- Centre for Social Studies and Development, based in the Niger Delta cities of Port Harcourt and Calabar, Nigeria.
In the last 17 years, Ken has worked closely with communities in the Niger Delta especially in those communities where oil and gas have been extracted for decades with devastating environmental, health and social consequences. His engagements in these communities have mainly focused on ensuring that decades of environmental pollution are cleaned up, that the human rights of the people are respected and protected, that community livelihoods lost to pollution are restored, that public revenues work to transform peoples’ lives, and that the rising effects of climate change are mitigated
He is passionate about increasing community voice and strengthening community agency in engaging stakeholders. He organizes platforms to project community rights and voices in global conversations around climate justice and environmental remediation.
