LBH Banda Aceh is a Legal Aid Institute domiciled in Banda Aceh, Indonesia and carries out the mandate of the principles and values of Structural Legal Aid.
LBH Banda Aceh was formed in 1995 to support the Civil and Political Right and respond to the challenges of socio-political conditions in the enactment of the Military Operation Area (DOM) status in Aceh at that time with many cases of arrests, kidnappings and extrajudicial killings against community whom accused of being involved in and supporting the separatist Free Aceh Movement. LBH Banda Aceh's area of expertise is Human Rights Law, especially on Social and Political Rights, and Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. Besides, LBH Banda Aceh's focus areas also including issues on the below. LBH Banda Aceh is interested to join the Legal Empowerment Network because we share the same goals in carrying out its social functions and works in the field of law and human rights. We are hoping that by becoming part of the Legal Empowerment Network, LBH Banda Aceh can work together, build good relationships, work together on a mission to foster an attitude of independence and empower the potential of the weak and legally blind layers of society in such a way that they are able to formulate, state, fight for, defend their legal rights and interests both individually and collectively and to access the right to justice.
