Maureen Sibanda Shonge holds a Bachelor of Law Honors Degree from the University of Zimbabwe and a Masters in Women’s law from the same university. She has 9 years of extensive work experience in civil society work. Much of the pragmatic experience she has gained has been in working in various diverse and multi-cultural environments. Her skills range from strategy development; programme/project development and management including monitoring and evaluation; policy related work; organizational and financial management including resource mobilization and excellent writing skills. She has expertise in legislative processes and parliamentary reforms; working with government on implementing policies and integrating civil society perspectives in governmental processes, gender and women’s rights. She is an excellent facilitator with the ability to identify key issues for debate. Maureen can organise high level workshops, events and round tables with ease. She played an instrumental role in organising to SADC Symposiums in 2012 and 2013 which culminated in the production of SADC guidelines for judges and prosecutors. A good communicator with ability to develop communication and advocacy tools for partners. From the year 2008-2011 she worked as a researcher at the Research and Advocacy Unit. From 2011 up to date she has worked as a Project Lawyer for Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights. Maureen has also worked on a diverse number of consultancy projects and has been an expert facilitator in many workshops. She is a member of Zimbabwe Women Lawyers Association and the Law Society of Zimbabwe
