Joined August 2017
Interests: Community / Customary Land Rights, Governance, Land & Natural Resources
Oudom has been a well-established human rights and environmental rights campaigner in EarthRights since over the last five years where he use the power of people and power of law to hold accountability of the development projects such as dam and coal-fired power project that are harmful for human and environmental well-being. In line with his organization's capacity he has done a number of community organizing and mobilizing among grassroots communities (whose rights are violated by development projects) in order to build their capacity to push back against the harmful development projects. He provides human rights and environmental rights trainings to the grassroots communities and civil society organizations. He has also been an instrument for youth environmental activists in Cambodia and the Lower Mekong Region in terms of his analytical skill in natural resources governance and community empowerment aspect.
By joining Global Legal Empowerment Network, he believes that he could bring issues of human and environment rights from Cambodia and the Mekong Region more widely/globally in order for collecting additional legal concepts/supports for helping people in his area. He is also willing to share experiences around human rights activism and grassroots community organizing from his region/country to the network.
