The Institute conducts research on matters of access to justice facing Nova Scotians and makes recommendations for the improvement, modernization and reform of law and administration of justice. The Institute is currently reviewing the Intestate Succession Act and opportunities for a simplified procedure for administering small estates. As well, the Institute is conducting the #TalkJustice project (www.talkjustice.ca) collecting the narratives of Nova Scotians as they encounter the justice system and articulate what “justice” means to them.
