Presence in: Uganda
Focus: Economic Empowerment, Health, Peace-building

Action for Development of Local Communities (ADOL) is a grassroots self-help, non-profit, Community Based Organization registered by Bukedea District Local Government on 8th June 2015 working under registration No 093. Its offices are located in Bukedea town, along Tank Street, adjacent to the main market, plot 5, Bukedea Town Council, Bukedea District in Eastern region, Uganda. The formation of ADEGCO was out of deep aspiration by a group of young, committed, active citizens and passionate graduate youth to give back to the community, create a social positive impact and do an action at home by responding to the plights of the most vulnerable groups of people especially; women/girl child and widows impacted greatly by Human Rights violations and abuses, unemployment, political conflicts/wars, diseases, extreme poverty, gender and economic inequalities, climate change and other pressing community challenges in Teso sub-region in eastern Uganda and Bukedea District in particular. We do this by co-creating and designing with and for them innovative and problem solving projects geared towards realizing and achieving development at community, household and personal levels.

ADOL’s aim is to support the integration, inclusion, involvement and empowerment of the underprivileged, vulnerable, under-served and disadvantaged groups of people in communities into the development paradigm shift and give everyone a choice for access to – and utilization of available resources.

The idea to form ADOL is also attributed to the need to realize and achieve the 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) at community level, Vision 2040 and complement in achieving the National Development Plan of Uganda (NDP, 2020). We hope that by empowering the most disadvantaged groups of people

My name is Stevan Nikolic. I am more than 25 years in program od inclusion of Roma in the society. I am President of EB in Educational Centre of Roma. The civic association Educational Centre of Roma was founded in 2005 as a non-profit, non-governmental and non-profit organization with a mission: "Inclusion of Roma in the local environment on the territory of the Republic of Serbia". Through advocacy and mediation ECR acts towards the implementation of existing measures and proposes new measures for the advancement of the Roma community in the region. We promote all human rights and educate the environment to foster diversity as a top value. We are committed to "living with each other" and not "next to each other." This is a necessary precondition for the Roma ethnic community (and all other marginalized communities) to be accepted and acknowledged as members who were able to, through activism, participate in creating an equal society.
