Created in 2019, ACCSS is a think tank working on crime, security and development issues in Africa. Founded by Dany Franck Tiwa on a completely private initiative and in an independent approach, the origin of the creation of the ACCSS stems from the desire to satisfy three main objectives:

• To contribute to research and debate on security issues and their impact on development efforts in Africa, by offering a different, original and progressive reading of crime phenomena and the national and international issues associated with them;
• To create a truly independent center of expertise and research;
• To create a place of dialogue and reflection between all those who work to improve security indicators on the continent, including specialists from different professional and philosophical horizons, whether they are political leaders, high officials, industrialists, military, law enforcement agents, experts, academics and journalists etc.

The Institute covers a very broad spectrum of security issues, operating on the behalf of public bodies (ministries, multilateral institutions, international organizations, NGOs) and private companies which commission studies, research notes and trainings. Its researchers participate in multiple conferences in Africa and abroad. At the same time, its media activity, its dynamism on the Internet and on social networks, as well as the numerous events that the ACCSS organizes, allow it to participate fully in debates on local and international security issues, while meeting the needs of analysis and decryption of the general public.
