Amara Hub

Kole, Uganda
Joined July 2018

Amara Hub is a youth-led community based organisation whose mission is to nurture and empower bold communities of change.

Presence in: Uganda
Focus: Access to Information, Citizenship, Community / Customary Land Rights, Economic Empowerment, Gender-based violence, Governance, Women's Rights

Amara Hub convenes different cohorts of grassroots self-help groups to engage in evidence-based programs that focus on expanding their economic opportunities. Our premise is that empowerment is a process. By tracking direct, intermediate and final outcomes in the lives of the community members over time, we can better measure the process of empowerment. Amara Hub’s formative research has informed locally tailored interventions on employability skills and digital literacy. We compliment these with critical programs for youth on sexual and reproductive health.

Interests: Access to Information
I am Daniel Odongo, the Partnerships Director at Amara Hub. I'm looking to share my lived experiences in empowerment of low-income communities and also seeking to learn from other organisations' experiences especially those working in rural communities. I would also like to connect with international organisations and engage in knowledge sharing of aspects of innovation that can be applied to the context of the communities which Amara Hub serves in Northern Uganda.
Daniel Odongo is the network champion (main point of contact) for Amara Hub.
