American Association of Jewish Lawyers and Jurists

Livingston, United States
Joined April 2020

We are based in DC. The AAJLJ is a nonprofit association representing the American Jewish legal community. We defend Jewish interests and human rights in the US and abroad.

Presence in: Israel, United States
Focus: Generalist Legal Services, Governance, Peace-building

As a voluntary bar association, we engage with legal issues that have an impact on the Jewish and broader world through the lens of Jewish values and tradition. The AAJLJ educates and advocates around critical issues such as: civil rights, human rights, access to justice, social justice, Israel and the Rule of Law, Holocaust issues, and Jewish Law. Through its members, the AAJLJ provides legal support to safeguard human rights. In addition, the AAJLJ works to combat those who attempt to use “lawfare” to stigmatize and delegitimize the State of Israel.

I am currently Executive Director of the American Association of Jewish Lawyers and Jurists, so I focus on membership-building, advocacy and outreach, event planning, fundraising. I also intern at the NYC Supreme Court for a Judge in the commercial division. I have also been working with a solo practitioner. I am just beginning my legal career (will be licensed in New York soon, was supposed to be sworn in on March 23rd). My real passion is international human rights and genocide prevention, and I would ideally like to practice law in this area.
Alyssa Grzesh is the network champion (main point of contact) for American Association of Jewish Lawyers and Jurists.
