BETTER LEGAL SERVICES LAW FIRM is the full-service law firm founded by Me Enos NSENGIYUMVA to provide general practice of legal services and stand up for the rights of its clients.

But due to the problem of poverty, some of our clients are not able to get the money to pay for the lawyers which makes them unable to get justice. It is in this context that we set up a Pro bono unit to help the vulnerable in need of justice services. The objective is to provide legal aid services to eligible vulnerable people throughout Rwanda, for little or no cost.

We plan the implementation of pro bono activities by undertaking a Justice for Vulnerable  Program (JFVP) that will focus on delivering legal aid services to eligible vulnerable and Community Law Education Program (CLEP) that will focus on community education about laws that affect them.

Mission

The mission of the Pro bono unit is to promote equal access to justice in providing legal aid services to vulnerable and low-income people. Through legal advice, advocacy, court representation, community legal training, and Law clinic, eligible individuals will be allowed to free hearing and assistance from lawyers.

Vision

BETTER LEGAL SERVICES LAW FIRM Pro bono unit vision is to build a sustainable and effective Pro bono system to help the needy and the underprivileged get access to justice for free and build a community that knows laws that affect them.

Objectives

Our Pro bono unit shall have the following objectives:

  • Increase the number of vulnerable and low-income people who receive free legal advice and representation.
  • Increase the number of people who know laws that affect them.
  • Provide high-quality legal aid services that achieve the greatest impact.
  • Strengthen, and maintain collaboration and partnerships with national and international partners.
  • Provide the long term financial stability of the Pro bono unit.
  • Maintain a well-governed and well-administered pro bono unit.

My name is Eliane NIRERE. I am married. I am a co-founder and the Office Manager at Better Legal Services Law Firm. I hold a degree in Information technology and certificates in project management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Big Data, Leadership development, and Business Analysis. I am responsible for organizing all administrative duties and office procedures. I make efforts to create a pleasant working environment helping our legal staff focus on their client interest.
But due to the problem of poverty, some of our clients are not able to get the money to pay for the lawyers which makes them unable to get justice. Due to ignorance some people are driven from their properties, denied basic services because they don’t have any skills on the law that affects them or that can protect them.
It is in this context that BETTER LEGAL SERVICES LAW FIRM has set up a Pro bono unit to help the vulnerable in need of justice services. The objective is to provide legal aid services to eligible vulnerable people throughout Rwanda, for little or no cost.
BETTER LEGAL SERVICES LAW FIRM plan the implementation of its pro bono activities by undertaking a Justice for Vulnerable Program (JFVP) that will focus on delivering legal aid services to eligible vulnerable and Community Law Education Program (CLEP) that will focus on community education about laws that affect them.
The access to justice should not base on how much money a person has, ethnic group, age, gender, region, origin, health status, abnormal sexual behavior, or other reason. But many people do not get full justice for a variety of reasons including poverty, lack of resources, lack of legal knowledge that protects them, being marginalized, society misunderstood due to culture, sexual violence, and so on. On the other hand, they break the law due to the insufficient knowledge they have.
BETTER LEGAL SERVICES LAW FIRM establish the Pro bono unit to ensure equal access to justice and help to build a community of people that know laws that affect them, through collaboration with government authorities and national and international partners.
To achieve this, we will do so in two ways:
Through the Justice System for Bad Programs (JFVP), we will do the following activities:
- Legal counseling
- Representation

Through the Community Law Education Program (CLEP) we will do the following activities:
-Provide talks on laws in public speaking
- build community awareness in the law through a talk on law using social media, publications, and community training.
In line with the goals of the Namati innovations in Legal Empowerment, giving us the opportunity to work with you would make it easier for us to make our contribution more easily by putting justice in the hands of the people. We are ready to work with you in various practice areas.
