BRAC University (BRACU) was established in 2001. It follows liberal arts approach to education which nurtures fresh ideas and gives new impetus in the field of tertiary education. It ensures a high quality of education and aims to meet the demands of the contemporary times. Building on BRAC’s experience of seeking solution to challenges posed by extreme poverty, BRACU hopes to instill in its students a commitment to working towards national development and progress. BRACU is accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and approved by the Ministry of Education, Government of Bangladesh.

MISSION
The mission of BRAC University is to foster the national development process through the creation of a centre of excellence in higher education that is responsive to society’s needs, and able to develop creative leaders and actively contributes to learning and creation of knowledge.

GOAL
The goal of the university is to provide an excellent broad-based education with a focus on professional development for students, in order to equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary for leading the country in its quest for development. Along with this, the university provides an environment for faculty development to ensure a dynamic teaching environment. Faculty will be provided with an environment in which they can further their teaching-learning skills and contribute to the creation of new knowledge by developing and using their research skills.

Faustina Pereira

Dr Pereira joined BRAC in September 2007 as the director of the Human Rights and Legal Aid Services programme. She is a lawyer, a human rights activist and an author. She obtained her doctorate in International Human Rights Law in 1998 from the University of Notre Dame, USA, and completed her post-doctorate in 2002 from the National University of Ireland, Galway, as a Bank of Ireland Fellow. Prior to joining BRAC, Dr Pereira served as the director of Ain O Salish Kendra (ASK). Dr Pereira, an internationally established writer has authored the book “The Fractured Scales: The Search for a Uniform Personal Code”, which was awarded a Gold Medal by the Asiatic Society. In 2006, she was named Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.

I am Sabrina Syed, an education graduate, completed my graduation and post-graduation with the concentration in science education and educational psychology respectively from the Institute of Education and Research (IER), University of Dhaka. I started her professional career during study, has worked in different educational project as an education expert/consultant of different international and national level organization. After my post graduation I worked for NARRI consortium, ActionAid . Later I joined BRAC University as a lecturer of Professional Development Centre (PDC). my responsibility is to improve the quality of education within the university by conducting different types of learning support programs for students, workshop/training/course for teachers and conducting need based research within the university. I have also experience on translation work with Altech Bangladesh and Institute of Educational Development (IED) in ‘NOBODHARA SCHOOL’ project.
As a dynamic proactive person, I did not bind myself into the boundary of academic activities. Rather, I have organized and participated in different cultural events, drama shows, martial art shows, fine arts and dance competitions. I was a sub editor of a monthly wall paper in IER, Dhaka University and writing articles on education for different daily newspapers.
I am looking for an opportunity to work exhaustively with a Global Standard organization in research sector to expand my contribution to maintain this never-compromised Global Standard.
