Bridge Initiative Organization (BIO) is a non-governmental organization formed by individuals who identify themselves as youth LGBTQ.It was established and registered (L.2540) in 2016 to advocate for and bridge gaps existing in the protection of the rights of LGBT, MSM and sex worker communities on Unguja and Pemba (Zanzibar) and expand the service to all of Tanzania.

Salum A. Abdalla (Him/his/he or Queer – Executive Director): As a youth LGBTI and sex worker identifying activist for Zanzibar,Tanzania. With is his extensive 8 years’ experience working to advocate the rights of sexual minority, he has strong youth mobilization and policy advocacy skill sets and has been a demonstrated source of information and knowledge within key population’s and LGBT communities in Zanzibar. In this project Salum will oversee the ground implementation of the project and lead the
advocacy role to influence change.
