Central Community Legal Aid (CCLA) is a non-governmental, independent, and non-profit organization established in January 20, 2020 by a group of lawyers committed to promoting the protection of people’s rights came up with the idea of an organization which would facilitate access to justice for all.
The organization is legally registered under State of Hirshabelle of Somalia and exists to empower the poor and vulnerable communities in central regions in Somalia, those are in need of legal aid services, particularly to, refugees, IDPs, and minority in matters relating to civil cases, criminal cases, and customary law, and provides legal counseling and mediations where necessary.
CCLA informs people about their rights and obligations under the law and provides access to legal assistance for vulnerable, voiceless and disadvantaged groups, those unable to afford a lawyer, encouraging people to settle disputes in a non-violent manner and preferably outside court.
CCLA also advocates and provides legal trainings, awareness raising to the communities in urban and rural areas, or remote areas in central regions.
