CFJJ is an organism under subordination of the Ministry of Justice.

It was created in the year of 1997, started working in 2000 and it was inaugurated by the Former President of the Republic of Mozambique, Joaquim Chissano in 2001.

It is an organization that has the mission to train professionals of the sector of justice and work on the legal education of the citizens.

So, the CFJJ has been training not only, and specially judicial magistrate and public prosecutor, but also paralegals, who are trained with the mission to make communities know better about their rights on natural resources and provide them help in order to defend the referred rights when violated or at risk of being violated.

The CFJJ has been training paralegals since the year of 2005, and so far has trained more than 700 paralegals.

I’m Sérgio Baleira, a sociologist and researcher lecturing at the Eduardo Mondlane University (Universidade Eduardo Mondlane-UEM) and training judges, prosecutors and paralegals at the Legal and Judicial Training Centre (Centro de Formação Jurídica e Judiciária-CFJJ) in Mozambique for about 12 years.
My thematic field of work is land and natural resources laws, community rights protection, and community-investors conflict mediation, negotiation and economic partnership facilitation. I would like to join MAMATI’s network to receive and share information, resources and knowledge on these matters as to improve my performance on my interventions.
