Christian Legal Society of Zimbabwe [CLS] is a faith and law based non-profit organisation whose thrust is to promote access to justice and legal empowerment to marginalised persons.

Our Intervention Approach :The Initiatives by Christian Legal Society Zimbabwe seek to promote the use of law as a tool for sustainable development and integrate gender inclusive human rights-based approaches towards active citizen engagement. The Initiatives implemented by CLS are conducted at grassroots level through Community Paralegals who are justice advocates drawn from the areas of operation,who are trained to offer free basic legal assistance to community members.

Our Mission : In fulfilling her mission which is to do justice with compassion, CLS priorities legal assistance to marginalised and vulnerable populations who include women, men and children from low income households and facing disadvantage or discrimination.

Our Thematic Areas : CLS essentially provides pro-bono legal support, advice and direct legal representation on issues relating to family laws, child justice, gender justice, constitutional rights [in particular ECOSOC Rights], as well as facilitating access to judicial remedies alongside alternative dispute resolution wherever appropriate. In addition to providing legal assistance to indigent populations, CLS also undertakes human rights monitoring, legal research as well as strategic litigation as an integral part of legislative advocacy towards protecting group rights, law and policy reforms to ensure effective legal protection of human rights and efficiency in justice delivery.

Our Footprints : CLS has been programming in rural areas of Zimbabwe since 2009 and the interventions are anchored on rights based development as well as principles of participation, accountability, non-discrimination, empowerment and legal instruments.
