Community Protection Centre (CPC) is a non-governmental organization established in 2017 to empower and mobilize young people in Somalia to engage with development issues and confront the vulnerability and marginalization of their communities. CPC is an independent, neutral and impartial Somali organization committed to bringing meaningful and lasting change to the lives of communities and youth, especially to those most exposed to risks. CPC’s mandate is to address the needs and issues facing the most vulnerable and marginalized groups in society, mainly young people, women, children, the poor, and internally displaced persons (IDPs). CPC does this through community mobilization, capacity building and policy advocacy. Since its inception, CPC has been actively involved in implementing programmes working on: Human rights and child protection, Youth empowerment and non-formal education, Humanitarian response, Peacebuilding and conflict prevention, Good governance and democracy.
CPC has invested in empowering women and girls to claim their rights; enabling equitable access to services, resources and opportunities; facilitating greater access to justice for survivors of Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV); and supporting change agents opposed to and committed to eradication of all forms of VAWG. Our interventions are designed to deliberately address norms, attitudes, laws, policies and practices that affect women’s and girl’s safety and wellbeing in general. This is done through supporting development and implementation of gender progressive laws, policies and guidelines and consistent engagement with different actors to prevent and respond to VAWG and to hold perpetrators of these violations accountable
