East Africa Human Rights Educators Movement (EAHREM) is a non- profit social movement founded by human rights educators from
the six East African Community states of Kenya,Tanzania,Uganda,South Sudan,Rwanda and Burundi.
EAHREM was formed when 25 founder members adopted the Arusha Declaration on Human Rights Education on 5th May 2016 which
established the social movement.

Since its inception, East Africa Human Rights Educators movement (EAHREM) has striven to establish itself in the six East Africa
Community states through opening up country chapters, the first of its kind being EAHREM Uganda chapter which was officially
registered as accompany limited by guarantee. In its quest to effectively serve and deliver human rights education among local
communities, EAHREM Uganda embarked on a Human rights mapping project through a countrywide Human Rights Tour to map
major actors in the human rights field including LGBT with a goal of gathering first hand information on human rights promotion and
protection situation in the country which eventually inform the designing of a comprehensive Human Rights Education programs to
educate the population about human rights values and how to protect them.
