Our Vision

Establishment of a society that ensures equality and justice to all.

Our Mission

We work towards the effective implementation of laws and policies to protect and promote Dalit and Tribal rights, especially the rights of women and children, and to eradicate discrimination and atrocities committed against them.

In collaboration with like-minded human rights organizations, social movements, professionals and others, we demand accountability from both the state and civil society to ensure equality and freedom for these marginalized communities to live with dignity and self-respect.

Activity ;

“Evidence is an organization which mainly focuses on monitoring Dalit rights and promoting social justice. Based in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, it was initiated in 2005. Its main activities are Dalit human rights monitoring, ‘women witness’ ensuring a gender focus within human rights monitoring, legal interventions, action oriented research, media interventions, round table consultations, promoting a Dalit civil rights forum, social dialogue between caste communities and strategic training programs. Within a short period we have been able to create a strong impact so that Evidence is now a well-known Dalit organization in Tamil Nadu working on behalf of Dalits.

Since 2006 we have intervened in over 1800 atrocity cases including murders, brutal attacks, sexual violence, discriminatory practices in schools and public institutions/places, social boycotts, encroachments or appropriation of Dalits’ property, denials of livelihood resources and basic amenities. More significantly, through a network of lawyers we have filed over 400 cases in the High Court requesting legal remedies.
