Forum Africa Heritage and Human Rights Network(FAHHRNet) was previously organized in Sierra Leone in 2003 as a Community Based Organization by a group of Liberian refugees headed by me, who fled from the civil war in Liberia in the 90s. The initial mission of the organization was to advocate against the numerous human rights abuses that were meted out to Liberian refugees by some local staffs of the UNHCR and ordinary host community residents in Sierra Leone. FAHHRNet operates on a three wheeled drive structure consisting of a General Assembly, a Board of Directors and a Secretariat. The Secretariat comprises the Executive Director, Programme Manager, Admi-Finance Officer, Data Officer and three (3) Field Monitors. In 2006, FAHHRNet sought membership into both the Kenema District Civil Society and the Kenema District Human Rights Committees. Through these Committees, our staffs received numerous training opportunities in human rights protection, monitoring and gender law. We also served on several sub-committees on health, prison, local council, land grabbing and environment. FAHHRNet also served in the civil society monitoring group that worked with the Anti Corruptions Commission of Sierra Leone for four (4) years. we participated in Justice Sector Development Program in Sierra Leone during which we were trained as paralegals, advocates, and prison and court monitor. FAHHRNet worked with the National Elections Watch, a consortium of dozens of civil society organizations engaged in observing Elections in Sierra Leone. We observed the General and Presidential Elections in 2008, 2012 and 2018. However, the war having ended in Liberia and many of the organization’s staff being Liberians, in November 2019 FAHHRNet moved to Liberia and registered the organization with the Liberia Business Registry as a National Non Governmental Organization Pursuant to the provision of the not-for-profit corporation Act of Liberia. It addresses injustices in Liberia during this Pandemic
