Presence in: Sierra Leone
Focus: Education, Gender-based violence, Livelihoods, Peace-building & Transitional Justice, Women's Rights

This organisation was initially called ‘The Eye’ founded by Ibrahim s Bangura. Its purpose was to support the 2018 ”Hands Off Our Girls” initiative of Sierra Leone’s First Lady, H.E. Fatima Bio in the form of dramatic sensitization, school tours advocacy, TV shows, and radio programs to raise awareness on issues affecting women and girls not excluding youth, issues like rape, domestic violence, early marriage, child labour, and teenage pregnancy in the rural areas. The Eye was later changed to ‘Future Leaders Initiative’ on November 10th, 2018, and officially registered as a youth-serving agency in Sierra Leone. Future Leaders Initiative SL is a small body that operates as a non-profit, non-governmental, non-religious, and non-tribal humanitarian organization dealing with youth, women, and children aged 10-35. Our mission is to protect, promote, empower, and educate vulnerable and disadvantaged rural community youth, women, and children on human rights issues, violence, and sexual gender-based violence against women and girls for sustainable development through sport, poetry, music, workshops, community outreach, and support groups.

I am Ibrahim, a high school student studying sound engineering and creative writing at WAYoutarts Sierra Leone. I am as well the co-founder and CEO of Future Leaders Initiative SL [ a non-profit organization dealing with youth, women, and children aged 10-3 with the mission of protecting, promoting, empowering, and educating them about human rights issues. My role in my organization is to provide strategic leadership direction, manage and evaluate all aspects of the organization with 5+ years of experience in community development, community mobilisation, and six [6] years experience in volunteerism and peacekeeping. I hold a certificate in conflict analysis from the United States Institute of Peace, Social Innovation from the University of Cape Town, and an Interdisciplinary Introduction to Children's Human Rights from the University of Geneva. I am an educator and a project innovator expert with a primary focus on the growth and development of young people especially women and girls. I am looking for people to work with, people that can help me in any way to create a world for children that is free from all forms of injustice in all settings. An idea that can not be utilised is of no use, I don't want my ideas to be of no use and I am seeing my ideas are of no use because my organisation is struggling to get financial support. My organisation needs financial support to start a vocational skill training centre where young people can learn professional media skills like graphic design, camera operation, video editing, documentary making, film making, and more. My life goal is to lead the way for the next generation to achieve sustainable development through education and empowerment. I want to work with this network in bringing joy and hope to young people's faces.
Ibrahim S Bangura is the network champion (main point of contact) for Future Leaders Initiative SL.
