Independent Living Center for Persons with Disabilities, Kathmandu (CIL-Kathmandu) is a non-profit, non-political, self-help organization run by and for persons with disabilities. It is the first disabled persons’ organization established to promote and protect the rights of people with disabilities through the concept of ‘Independent Living’ in Nepal.

The four key areas we work in are: Advocacy, Peer Support Services, Awareness, and Assistive Services, Devices and Technology

CIL-Kathmandu is headquartered in Gaushala, Kathmandu, and is affiliated with organizations in 20 districts around Nepal also promoting the concept of Independent Living

I joined the (CIL-Kathmandu) in March 2017 as elected Secretary General. As Secretary General I'm responsible for leading the implementation of the organizations strategic direction, to achieve its vision of PWDs living independent and dignified lives in a barrier free community. I have 10 years experiencing working in community development on; human rights, humanitarian response and promoting the concept of independent living. I have an experience on project manager formerly employed by CIL-Kathmandu’s as Program Manager for Human Rights Education Program. I studied Masters in Business Studies from Tribhuvan University. I have completed a fellowship at National Human Rights Commission and a year Duskin Leadership Training in Japan. As an individual with a bilateral amputation caused by a truck accident when was 8 years old, I understands the discrimination, exclusion and numerous barriers that people with disabilities, old age people and children face every day.
