This a new organisation that has just been set up. our mission is to empower the citizenry to exercise their human rights and to hold the duty bearers to account. We intend to do this through advocacy and civic education among other things . We also intend to take up class actions to help in the enforcement of rights. Our area of work will be all encompassing and we will not just focus on  specific rights but we intend to focus on  all human rights both as assured by national and international law. ie the right to life, the right with sexual and reproductive health, access to justice, access to information, prohibition against discrimination etc. Further we intend to be a hub of research .

I am a legal practitioner of nine years experience in practise with a passion for social justice. I have been involved in the social justice and legal empowerment work for the past nine years through pro bono advocacy and litigation work that I have done on behalf of women and children in my country. I and other practitioners have now set up an institute within which we intend to strengthen the capacity of the citizens of our country to exercise their rights.

I want our organisation to join this network so that we can learn from those that are already doing it but also so that we can exchange ideas with like minded individuals and organisations
Felisah Rose Kilembe is the network champion (main point of contact) for Institute for human rights, justice and development.
