Our History

IRO organization was established as an effort of those youth who were members of the youth forum in Kalar district from 2005 to 2013. This eight years long project was implemented by Civil Society Initiative (CSI) and funded by National Endowment for Democracy (NED). IRO youth group established IRO Organization in 2018 and registered the organization in June 2019 as a non-for-profit organization at the Department of NGOs in Kurdistan Region, Iraq.

IRO is a not-for-profit, non-partisan, non-government organization established in 2018, works for community development through capacity building, awareness raising and advocacy. 

Our Values

 IRO vision is a society in which the vulnerable groups have share in decision making process and access to community resources

IRO mission is to motivate and enable people to participate in the processes of decision making and sustainable development for improving their living standards and basic human rights.

Goals and objectives

 According to Article FOUR of the bylaw, IRO aims at:

  1. Raising awareness of individuals towards their rights and responsibilities
  2. Advocacy against violations of rights and protection of the human dignity
  3. Strengthening role of public institutions and improve quality of their services
  4. Mobilize capacity of community groups to guarantee a reputable life for the vulnerable and marginalized groups such as women, youth, people with special needs, underserved people, unemployed, IDPs, refugees and others.
  5. In coordination with private sector, building capacity of those groups within the society who have less access to resources of employment and income of the public sector.
  6. Motivate voluntary and charity initiatives, environmental awareness, civic actions and protecting public interests.
  7. We commit to Social inclusion and equality of all ethnicities and religious groups within the society
