The Karenni Social Development Center is a small community based organisation located on the Thai-Burma border. Our goal is to protect the environment in our state, promote the human rights of the long suffering Karenni people and build a new society based upon the rule of the law. We train young Karenni people in Law, human rights and the environment. We also conduct research within Karenni refugee camp 1 and inside Karenni State.

Interests: Community / Customary Land Rights, Education, Environmental Justice
We aim to advocate on behalf of communities that have suffered human rights abuses at the hands of those who use violence as a means of control, promote human dignity and non-violent social change, develop the rule of law, and ensure the conservation of the Karenni environment.

Our current objectives are to educate 30 disadvantaged yet motivated young adults, from June 2019 to March 2020 on civic issues related to Human Rights, Rule of Raw, Democracy, and Environmental Conservation. We also wish to train a further 20 young Karenni men and women, from June to November 2019 in the technical skills needed to become effective advocates for their communities, more specifically in skills related to Community Mobilization and Organization, Office Management, Project Development and Management, and Campaigning and Lobbying.
Myar Reh is the network champion (main point of contact) for Karenni Social Development Center.
