Mehram is a not for profit trust dedicated to the advancement and/or dissemination of information relating to all aspects of the gender-related issues of oppression, violence, harassment, abuse, and discrimination. It aims at creating a support system for women survivors of violence. The issue has been hidden because of the ongoing political conflict in the region, in which women are worst affected.

The organization is currently working at a local level to further the idea of gender justice and ensure that women from social and economic background feel heard. The trust operates by connecting with women from different spheres, creating awareness, conducing short term projects for intervention. For casework, once the identification is done, the trust intervenes by providing legal support to the survivors and assisting them through the process of the trial and investigation.

In a short period, the trust has managed to work extensively on the ground. From its experience, Mehram believes that a lot of work needs to be done to eradicate gender-based violence. The trust is determined to create a space where women are ready to speak up about their issues, space where talking about their stories of abuse is not seen as shameful or disrespectful.  All these issues must be heard, acknowledged so that the women feel respected and be supported in the choices they make.
