Khulumani is a national membership organisation of survivors of human rights violations that work for the restoration of their dignity and for their transformation from victims into active citizens. The organisation facilitates capacity building in the use of legal tools to create constructive social change. The tools include the use of the Promotion of Access to Information Act and capacity building in mechanisms for enhancing the accountability of local government as well as skills development in public dialogue and deliberation. Khulumani builds spaces for gender transformation thorugh the applicaiton of the tools of the Sanctuary Movement for building social capital towards enhancing the possibilities of vulnerable people to develop sustainable livelihoods.
