Koibatek Ogiek Women and Youth Network (KOWYN) is an indigenous women and youth led Community Based Organization that advocates for basic human rights and self-determination among the Ogiek women and youth.

KOWYN’s main aim is to amplify the voices, capacity build and ensure services delivery to the deprived and marginalized Ogiek women and Youth as well as to be the cradle of restoration and conservation of their habitat

VISION

An enabling environment for the realization, respect, and protection of fundamental human Rights among women and youth of the Indigenous Ogiek Community.

MISSION

To achieve transformation of Ogiek tackle their economic, social and environmental problems for sustainable community development.

OBJECTIVES

  • To enlighten Ogiek women and youth on the importance of education, their basic rights to education and its impact in improving their health and incomes
  • Implementation of  women and youth welfares  and  development  programs  aimed  at  socio-economic  empowerment  of  women and youth  through  their  participation  in  all  development programs
  • To promote gender equality, provide safe space and quality legal assistance to victims of sexual and gender based violence
  • To work towards environmental protection, conservation of natural resources and bio diversity through advocacy, networking, public interest litigation and education
  • To establish a resource center aimed at facilitating revitalization and preservation of the near extinct Ogiek language and culture through education, research, documentation and communication.
  • To develop effective linkages with government line agencies, non-government organizations, and donor agencies working for community development.
