KITAD operates mainly in kyegegwa district and it's neighborhood,through conducting trainings, community information sessions, advocacy, paralegal and interpretation services to communities.

  1. LEGAL EMPOWERMENT, SGBV PREVENTION AND MITIGATION.
  2. KITAD is a community based organization registered at sub county and Kyegegwa district. Its composed of refugees and host community in kyaka II refugee settlement. Its a home of 80 members among them 40% are Female and 60% are male. Due to increased conflict in Eastern Democratic republic of Congo more than 52 thousand Congolese refugees have arrived Kyaka II from Late November in 2017 and up to December 2018 there is rampant increase in SGBV, Civil and criminal cases in communities. Most youth are marginalized in development aspects resulting to youth unemployment and engagement of unhealthy behaviors. Language barrier has been also a biggest challenge in creation of durable and sustainable solution to community challenges. KITAD emerged to;

    restore hope to communities, ¹providing interpretation, translation services on humanitarian ground,²mobilising youth to form self-help groups that can engage in productive livelihood activities, ³increase awareness prevention and mitigation of sexual gender based through conducting community meetings, Debates and campaigns ⁴ work as community paralegals through conducting community information session’s, community policing, training community leaders on Alternative dispute Resolution strategies (ADR) mediation and counseling skills, dentation visits and I identifying cases and refer them to other service implementing and operational organizations in kyaka II. 

    among others, However, we are so rounded with challenges, all stated activities are conducted based on members funding/ contributions.

  3. We luck computers that can help us keep data which is supposed to be treated with confidentiality.
  4. For groups that are formed we luck resources that can help the group to sustain themselves like learning/ teaching material for vocational skills training, tool to use in carpentry and joinery  so that we can improve on our impacts.

I am male aged 32 years, married, holding diploma in business administration and management at Team university Kampala.

I am among of thousand refugees who was forced to leave north Kivu province in 1992. I stay in Uganda kyaka II refugees settlement with other thousands of youth who have continued fleeing Congo due to tribal conflict and armed militia groups from internal and external forces.
While in refugee settlement, many arrive without knowing the existing laws and continue with unlawful cultural practices like early marriage, domestic violence resulting many to spend most of their life in prison.

I am a founder and executive director for KITAD, a community organization that is registered with the government of Uganda aiming at training and create awareness on Uganda laws, refugees act and regulations of 2006 and 2010.
