The Law & Society Trust (LST) is a not for profit organization engaged in human rights documentation, legal research and advocacy based in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Our aim is to use rights based strategies in research, documentation and advocacy in order to promote and protect human rights, enhance public accountability and respect for the rule of law. Some of our main activities include legal education and skills training, publications, rights awareness raising, dissemination of information, networking & coalition building at a national and international level.
The primary objective of the Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Program of the Law and Society Trust is to promote awareness and respect for economic, social and cultural rights in Sri Lanka and their protection through reform of laws, policies and institutions. It attempts to achieve these goals through a series of multi-pronged strategies which includes: fact-finding, research and analysis, advocacy, national and regional partnerships, and alliance and coalition-building. Our areas of expertise includes work on the Right to Land in Sri Lanka and the gamut of issues that this area encompasses. To further its activities in this area, LST is looking to network regionally and globally with others working on land law rights.
