LAW is a unique non-profit network and think tank of human rights lawyers who provide creative legal assistance to individuals and communities who have suffered from human rights violations and abuses in fragile and conflict-affected areas. These people are those who often have the greatest need for protection and assistance but are also those who have the least access to legal resources. Most of the time, they do not know that legal assistance exists and often do not know what their options are for legal redress.
Since its establishment, LAW has focused on regions experiencing conflict, such as the Middle East and the Horn of Africa, and on key themes, such as sexual violence and accountability for security forces.
I am a human rights lawyer with experience in gender-based violence response and prevention projects in Haiti and South Africa. I'm currently working on similar projects with Legal Action Worldwide in Somalia and South Sudan.
I am an ambitious advocate of the High Court of Kenya with 5 years’ experience working in the child rights and women rights sector in Kenya and Tanzania; specifically, on issues related to gender based violence, sexual and reproductive health rights and child participation. My career goal is to offer my legal expertise and experience to empower vulnerable populations through strategic interventions that are centered on upholding and safeguarding human rights. I am currently in the employ of Legal Action Worldwide(LAW) which is a think tank of lawyers that develop creative legal solutions to enhance access to justice for vulnerable populations living in fragile and post conflict states. My role at LAW primarily entails carrying out research on accountability of security forces for sexual and gender-based violence crimes in Somalia and South Sudan and facilitating training on legal aid provision and collection of testimonies.
