Legal Aid and Consultancy Centre was established in 1987, is an independent non-governmental organization LACC is a pioneer in the field of providing free legal aid and combating gender based violence for promoting women’s access to justice. It was founded by Prof. Dr Shanta Thapalia accompanying with women group of lawyers with the goal of promoting and protecting the rights and interests of women and children in Nepal. LACC is dedicated to protect and promote the dignity, well-being and rights of women and children in Nepal.

It is committed to uplifting the social, political, legal, economic and cultural status of women and children, defending their interests and eliminating all forms of discrimination and violence against them.

My name is Dipak Prasad Bashyal. I am from Nepal. I have more than 10 years of experience in human rights work. I have also the expertise of non-profit project development and management. Currently, I am working at Legal Aid and Consultancy Center (LACC) as a Program Director. LACC is national level non-government organization working on 'access to justice' and 'human rights'. My role in the organization is to provide overall leadership and necessary guidance to the projects/programs of the organization. I am equally responsible for the fundraising for organizational activities.

Joining this network, I can share my decade long experience in the sector of human rights and justice as well as learn other national and international best practices and innovative ideas that might be useful to further enhance the human rights situation in my country.

I did masters in Human Rights and Gender Justice and working as program coordinator in a organization Legal Aid and Consultancy Centre (LACC) in a project "Strengthening Access to Justice for Women in Nepal through documentation of Identity and institutionalizing Paralegal Services. Punya Shila is a lawyer working with a non-profit legal organization named Legal Aid and Consultancy Center in Nepal. For past 17 years in her career, she has represented many women in the court and has provided free legal Aid and counselling to them. She frequently organizes training camps to train women to become paralegals and mediators. She visits local schools to teach students about women rights, organize town halls and mobile legal camp to teach and create public awareness in the community. She is an active advocater for women’s rights especially related to domestic violence,Gender based violence and citizen ship against women .
