I am a political scientist, specializing in comparative politics. My research focuses on ethnic and gender diversity, intersectionality, and the political representation of women, indigenous groups, and ethnic minorities in parliaments around the world. Among other topics, I am interested in the implementation of "ethnic quotas" for the political inclusion of indigenous and marginalized ethnic groups in countries around the world. While these mechanisms for formal inclusion are now well documented, I am particularly interested in how they are implemented, and what is needed to ensure that they provide meaningful representation and effective influence for constituent groups.
