Mujer y Salud en Uruguay (MYSU) is a non-governmental, feminist organization whose mission is the promotion and defense of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRH) from a gender and generational perspective. We emerged as an articulation of women’s organizations with expertise in this field of rights that organized in 1996 the First National Meeting on women’s health and since then encourages citizen mobilization to generate the social and normative changes achieved in Uruguay that place it among the advanced in the region.

We were constituted as a non-profit civil association in 2005 and two years later we created the National Observatory on Gender and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SSR), a robust technical political tool to monitor the implementation of public policies, the functioning of services and the quality of care from the perception of the user population. We generate evidence that is used for social incidence, the dissemination of information and for the support of the Citizen Platform that gathers the demands that are elaborated in articulation with multiplicity of social and academic actors.
