The Observatorio de Derechos y Justicia (ODJ) is a non-profit civil society organization that has been working since 2014 to promote and defend human rights, judicial independence and the rule of law in Ecuador.

During its almost 10 years of existence, it has shown a fervent commitment to social causes and inclusion, working hand in hand with diverse groups to achieve their empowerment in human rights issues. Some of these are: youth, people with disabilities, civil society organizations, LGBTIQ+ groups, women’s associations, private companies, public sector and others.

During this time we have conducted trainings, thematic reports, public events and carried out strategic litigation actions at the national level and before the Inter-American Human Rights System. The latter, in alliance with foundations and associations throughout Latin America.

We firmly believe that we can achieve a more just and inclusive world, where no one is discriminated against on the basis of race, religion, sexual orientation, nationality, etc. But above all, we believe that the Judiciary plays a fundamental role in this task, regardless of the geographic location in which it operates. Hence the importance of promoting its transparency and integrity, as well as the professionalism of its members.
