Oceans Alive Trust is a Kenyan not-for-profit organisation, created to promote, facilitate and accelerate environmental, economic and socio-cultural change for good on the Kenyan coast. OA supports Kenya’s LMMA managers through building of local leadership, sharing best practice, securing financial stability and making fishers voices heard. We work with coastal communities to develop transformative approaches for catalysing and sustaining locally led marine conservation.

OA will provide adaptive management support through management plans, finance, strategy, sustainability and training from experts in the various fields. The objective is that each project performs in the best and most efficient way possible with a clear, workable strategy and management plan. OA promotes a holistic way of working to include an integrated portfolio of programmes that reflects the relationships between humans, their health and the environment. It has been shown to produce greater impacts than single-sector interventions, and to generate additional benefits such as the increased engagement of women in alternative livelihood activities.
