pekanbaru legal aid is a branch of the Indonesia Legal Aid Foundation which is domiciled in the city of Pekanbaru, Riau Province has a vision The realization of a legal community system that is built on a democratic social order that is just and civilized / humane (A just, humane and democratic socio-legal system) and mission To pioneer, encourage, assist and support programs of law formation, law enforcement and reform of national law in accordance with the applicable Constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Pekanbaru legal aid was founded in 2004 and has been advocating for the rights of communities whose land has been confiscated by corporations and also the indigenous Sakai people who have been criminalized for cultivating their customary lands. In 2019, Pekanbaru Legal Aid carried out policy advocacy for the recognition of the Talang Mamak indigenous community in Indragiri Hulu Regency. Pekanbaru Legal Aid has conducted research on the recognition of the territory of the Talang Mamak indigenous community.

The Pekanbaru Legal Aid program is to encourage first, community involvement in government governance monitoring activities in the forestry, energy and agrarian sectors, second, Encouraging the existence of an independent labor movement in protecting their rights, third, Providing understanding of public political awareness, fourth, Encouraging the formation of protection for Human rights defenders and fifth, expanding access to justice for vulnerable and minority communities in districts in Riau Province.
