People, Development & Policy Initiatives envisions a “Socially Just” and “Progressive” society where people understand and fulfill their collective responsibility and enjoy their rights indiscriminate to cast, color, creed, sex, ethnicity, race and/or nationality.

PDP Initiatives is pursuing this mission since its inception in 2013 by working for the well being of vulnerable segments of the society through various means, be it advocacy, community services, capacity building, lobbying and networking and emergency response. PDP Initiatives aspires to support various population groups in different thematic areas including Rule of Law, Democratic Governance, Women and Youth Empowerment, Emergency Response and Education throughout Pakistan.

PDP Initiatives focuses on ensuring equal opportunities for the vulnerable through improved access to the channels of grievance redress that would conform to the empowerment of individuals. PDP Initiatives concentrates on building capacities, promotion of human rights and access to justice by developing linkages and narrowing the gap between the deprived segments of the society and government institutions like law enforcement agencies, police, judiciary, government machinery and the national and international humanitarian community who is responsible for providing justice.

The head office of PDP Initiatives is located in Islamabad and the nationwide outreach is exercised through direct implementation and/or strategic partnerships with civil society, educational institutions and government departments.

PDP Initiatives follows a three pronged strategic model to deal with the adverse socio-economic and politico-legal situation in Pakistan.

  1. Identification of areas of concern
  2. Developing strategic partnerships with relevant stakeholders
  3. Initiating small scale Model Pilot Projects (MPPs)

I am a humanitarian at heart and a social worker by profession. With academic credentials in Management and Development Studies, I honed my professional skills in NGO sector during last six years. I had experience of working in private and corporate sector since 2002 prior to joining the social development sector. The ruthless profit savvy approach in the private sector compelled me to find my niche in the social development sector, where I found peace internally by helping the downtrodden and marginalized segments of my society.

I worked with few organizations where I gained specialized experience of dealing with vulnerable population groups that include refugees, IDPs and minorities, and I worked for the promotion and protection of their rights by facilitating their access to legal recourse and advocacy. This close interaction with this population group intrigued me to invest my energies in promoting Rule of Law, an integral component for a Socially Just society.
