The organisation was formed in 2007 in response to the National Credit Act 34 of 2007.  It provided mainly debt review/debt counselling services.  Over the years, the organisation has been assisting consumers with debt alleviation and debt management services, empowering them to take control of their financial lives by using debt responsibly.  Services were and are provided as per the National Credit Act (NCA).  Paralegal Services; family counselling and referral is offered free of charge.  During Corvid 19 pandemic the need for paralegal services became even more required by families and individuals especially in the rural areas where legal services and affordability thereof is a problem.  The organisation found itself having to offer counselling  and intervention services to many who lost their jobs as well as those facing domestic violence, hence it worked more as a mediator and a referral service.  Cases attended to include but not limited to being a resource centre for UIF application and advice; Social Relief grant advice; Domestic Violence advice and referral during the pandemic.  The name of the organisation was Royal NJ Debt Counselling and has since been changed to Phila Life Holistic Counsel SA in response to its diversity and more focus to real life matters.
