The Belarusian public association “Positive Movement” is one of the oldest organizations providing assistance to people faced with diseases such as HIV infection and drug addiction in Belarus.

The organization was established in 1999 on the initiative of specialists from the Republican Center for HIV/AIDS Prevention and People Living with HIV. The “Positive Movement” is a republican public association and can operate throughout Belarus.

The “Positive movement” has two branches:
1) branch of the Belarusian public association “Positive Movement” in Pinsk;
2) Vitebsk city branch of the NGO Positive Movement.

Mission
For a long time, the mission of the “Positive Movement” is:
carrying out preventive, educational, informational measures aimed at preventing the spread of HIV infection;
minimization of the negative consequences of the epidemic both for the whole society and for certain groups of the population and individuals.

Since 2004, the Positive Movement has been participating in the implementation of grants from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, implemented by the UN Development Program in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus.

The organization is developing drug prevention activities.

The main activities carried out:
Drug harm reduction programs (prevention of HIV, hepatitis, tuberculosis).
HIV testing for people who use drugs.
Advising people living with HIV on living with HIV and visiting support.
Support groups for people living with HIV.
The motivation of people who use drugs to change behavior. Counseling on the possibilities of obtaining narcological and social assistance.
Social support for people who use drugs and people living with HIV.
Work with adolescents involved in drug use.
