Salone Rising was founded by a Sierra Leonean youth living in United States of America, with a vision to help the least privilege women are petty traders for the rest of their lives. his motivation is drawn on the premise that these women trade all their lives but cannot be able to account for any substantial amount at the end of the day, they use their little profits for family upkeep, education, medication and even construction of family residence. Salone Rising, came about to change the course of these women. we also do interventions in the areas of health for the least privileged, gives out educational scholarship to the children and beneficiaries of our grantees.

Jeremiah James Vandi, was born in 1989 in Sierra Leone, during a period when the civil war was at its latent stage. as a child then, my family traveled to neighboring Guinea, as refugees. we spent ten years in Guinea under hard struggle, to get a food was a problem. as a child i, on several occasion slept on palm kernel, and bush yams. this continued for sometime until the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) came to our aid. later the International Rescue Committee(IRC) came to our aid and provided education for us. coming from a 100% literate family, i started schooling in Guinea and learned a lot about peace education. after the 10 year period, we came back to Sierra Leone, continued education. the hardship of the war precipitated my interest in Peace and governance issues. i became a member of inter-school peace clubs for Network Movement for Justice and Development, Green Scenery etc.
I pursued Bachelor of Science in Peace and Conflict studies, now law.
Jeremiah James Vandi is the network champion (main point of contact) for Salone Rising.
