Scholar Bridge Initiative

Nairobi, Kenya
Joined July 2021

We work in the Slums. Our mission is quality life through quality education. We donate books, provide mentorship, run a leadership development program, train teachers as well as offering scholarships.

Presence in: Kenya
Focus: Education

We adopt schools for three years within which we provide free mentorship programs. This could take the form of general group mentorship or in-person mentorship programs which have gone a long way to inspire hope for a better tomorrow as well as changing the lives the kids we mentor. We have a scholarship program that caters for school fees needs as well as a donation program that seeks to bridge the resource gap in schools from underprivileged communities. Our Leadership development program is offered by highly trained professionals with the aim of tapping into leadership at a very young age.

My name is John Karugu. I am a graduate of the University of Nairobi, BSc Economics & Statistics, CPA and an MBA student at Daystar University. I am deeply passionate about access to quality and affordable education. I believe every child should be given an equal chance to quality education. My heart is deeply moved to see as many of these kids from underprivileged communities living in the assurance that they too have an equal shot at a quality and decent life. It is this passion that led us to starting Scholar Bridge Initiative, a community based organization working in Nairobi slums to turn around the lives of young kids by promoting affordable quality education. Through our work in Kibera we have seen so many children perform better in school and we have seen many transit from primary school to high school with near zero cases of drop-outs. We adopt schools for three years within which we provide free mentorship programs.
