Search’s founder and former president, received an award in 2006 from the Skoll Foundation for social entrepreneurship. In 2008, Search for Common Ground was awarded the Benjamin Franklin Award for Public Diplomacy by the United States Department of State.

Shamil Idriss became President and CEO in September 2014. Prior to taking on his role with Search, Shamil was the CEO for Soliya, and served as Executive Director of the Alliance of Civilizations Media Fund which merged with Soliya in 2009. In 2005, he was appointed by then-UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan as Deputy Director of the UN Alliance of Civilizations. He served on the Steering Committee of the World Economic Forum’s Council of 100 Leaders and is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders and of the ASMA Society’s Muslim Leaders of Tomorrow.

Currently I possess a Masters Degree in Peacebuilding and Development Studies, Disaster Risk Management, Mental and Emotional Health Education, Health Planing and Management etc. My professional history includes positions such as Graduate Assistant at College of Health Science and Technology Makarfi Kaduna State, Currently Community Mobilizer at Search for Common Ground Maiduguri, Borno State. my responsibilities include as follows:
• Assist in Overseeing and coordinate the project resources to ensure the highest level of project quality and accountability, while fostering continuity through building capacity of local partners and developing innovative program interventions;
• Facilitate trainings, researches, and learning of cross-cutting relevance to the program.
• Contribute creative ideas for program Planning, Organizing, Implementing and Monitoring activities, also plan capacity Building.
• Ensure that participatory systems and processes for monitoring activities, results and impact assessment at program level are in place and involves the team and partners;
• Coordinate the production of timely and quality program reports in line with SFCG, Consortium and donor requirements.
• Ensure a conscious program approach in line with the “Common Ground” principles.
• Lead in the implementation of the RESILAC program pillar #1, providing sound methodological and technical support to ensure use of participatory methodologies, human rights and social cohesion and trauma healing programming approach.
• Provide continuous monitoring and support to field staff, coordinate project reviews, evaluations, and follow up implementation of evaluation findings in close collaboration with the Design, Monitoring and Evaluation (DM&E) Coordinator, key project staff, and the Head of Office North East Nigeria. I am looking forward to understanding further Global Peacebuilding Efforts and Resolutions on protection issues in the society such as GBV, Trafficking in persons, Human rights also opportunities for advance study on MentalHealth and Psycho-social Support opportunities.
