The Smile of A Child is a Community Based Organization founded in 2013 and formally registered on 22/12/2014 by the Government. The Organization has taken the lead in addressing the crucial needs and problems of the vulnerable children, Youth and Women in Kisii – Kenya.
SAC is part of the Kisii County Sexual and Based Technical working group and the Kisii County CSOs network where it represents children’s rights issues. Through our presence in the networks, our organization has managed to champion for the inclusion of the street children welfare issues in the upcoming gender mainstreaming policy for Kisii County.
The Organization focuses in promoting the rights of men, women, boys and girls, with a special focus on children issues especially:
• Children living in the streets
• Children from poor backgrounds
• children in families undergoing sexual and gender-based violence
• Orphaned children
• Children living with disability
The Organization has been part of many community initiatives from 2015 to date ranging from Health Education, Socio Economic Empowerment among youths and women in Kisii County. Although the organization hasn’t been a beneficiary of donor funding, the Organization has put efforts to mobilize locally available resources and use of established networks and platforms to implement the activities.

To address the challenges facing vulnerable children, Youths and women and enable them to realize their full potential through promoting education, Access to health care, social security, Justice and Economic Rights.
