SACCORD is anchored on the realization of a peaceful world where individual citizens will live in peace with access to basic necessities of life while fully participating in the affairs of their societies. The focus on the Southern Africa Region takes cognizance of the impact on Zambia of wars and conflicts in neighboring countries.  The vision & mission statement are:

Vision Statement: Zambia and Southern Africa Region where democracy, justice, peace and human security prevail”.

Mission Statement: “SACCORD is a Zambian based civil society organization that promotes peace and democratic governance for the people of Zambia and the Southern African Region through peace building, human rights strengthening, nurturing local & regional partnerships as well as holding duty bearers accountable.”

Some of SACCORD’s Activities

  • Develop, research, support and implement programmes to evolve a peace culture in Zambia, Africa and the world.
  • Co-ordinate, facilitate and collaborate with any individuals and institutions that promote preventive conflict resolution,
  • Print and publish any newspapers, newsletters, brochures, periodicals, books, leaflets. Posters, billboards that promote the objectives of the Centre.

 KEY Achievements for SACCORD

  1. Has monitored all general elections starting with the 2001 general elections to the 2016 general elections;
  2. Leading civil society in advocating for the review of the public order act;
  3. Holds Public forums for stakeholders engagements every year;
  4. Leading civil society in developing a Zambian Network for Human Rights defenders;
  5. Conducted a successful national wide research in 2019 in the department of police with an aim of assessing the barriers faced by women in Uniform in Peace keeping missions.
