The Southern African Institute for Policy and Research (SAIPAR) is an independent, educational research and development oriented research centre. Through interdisciplinary research, publications, seminars, and dialogue facilitation, the Institute seeks to contribute to improved policy making, research capacity, and governance. The Institute aims to be a catalyst for new ideas and concepts on good governance and development in Zambia and Southern Africa and a documentation centre to serve as an indispensable partner on research and policy analysis.

SAIPAR is the host of the Economic Policy Resource Centre (EPRC) and the Zambia Legal Information Institute (ZambiaLII).
The Southern African Institute for Policy and Research has
a dynamic research agenda that is carried out by a network
of researchers and research affiliates, and through partnership
and collaborative arrangements with several local,
regional, and international institutions. SAIPAR undertakes
interdisciplinary projects in the fields of economics, law and
governance, conflict transformation, and natural resources
and the environment. Spanning the above research clusters, past and present
research projects include; a DFID-funded Extractive States
and Inclusive Development Natural Resource Project; an enquiry
into court efficiency in the Southern African region; a study
of the effects of financialization on the copper mineral value
chain; and a development policy in practice study on the
Zambian economy.
