Swasti Health Resource Centre

Bangalore, India
Joined July 2016
Presence in: India
Focus: Economic Empowerment, Gender-based violence, Health

Swasti is a health resource centre established in 2002 with a focus on achieving public health outcomes for those who are socially excluded and poor. We are a niche service provider in the public health sector, delivering end-to-end solutions as well as short and long term support and facilitation, combining research and practice. Known to implement focused initiatives for marginalized communities, we balance passion and professionalism with cross-sectoral experience.

We believe that health and well-being can be best addressed when all three aspects – behaviours, systems and social determinants are addressed together. We recognise that the challenges to well-being are not only limited to health, and hence need to address the key enablers, in an integrated way. The need is to focus on outcomes and scale with high quality.

I am an engineer turned lawyer working in the non-profit space. After working with Lawyers Collective and Centre for Law and Policy Research, I work now for Swasti Health Catalyst.

Having worked closely with Mr. Anand Grover and Ms. Jayna Kothari, I had the opportunity of working issues I am deeply committed to. I have experience in IP Laws, Environmental Law, Disability Laws, Labour Laws,Education Laws, Rights of Women and Children and other vulnerable groups. At Swasti, I try to help in implementing the existing laws such as making social protection a reality for women in sex work and transgender persons.

I look forward to working with people passionate to make small but incremental changes in making access to legal aid a reality. Lot is lost just due to lack of information and opportunity, working with Namati, I believe would help me bridge that gap in my small way.
